Getting these two married was so much fun. I have known Lexi since she was 11 years old and sending her down the aisle to her true love put tears in my eyes! They were so relaxed with the whole planning and really sat back and allowed me to guide them through the process. The Vancouver Convention Centre (one of my favourite wedding venues!!) was the perfect backdrop for both their ceremony and reception.
I am so excited to be partnering with a group of amazing Vancouver vendors for an ELOPEMENT GIVEAWAY! That's right! We want to get you and your honey hitched! We have created a full package that will allow you to get married, in style, the way you want. Upon winning, you will get:

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO ALL!
This wedding was full of sweet and simple details that was one of our favourites this summer! The way these two looked at each other, made me remember why I do this job. They surrounded themselves with a fantastic vendor team to make the day happen. The family took the time to string the lighting on the Brock House lawn and made the space so much more functional at night. It was perfect!
I get asked this question time and time again. Why do I do this job? Isn’t it stressful? Isn’t there a ton of pressure? The answer is, of course! I work with brides and grooms, and their families, to create the, up to that point, most important day of their lives. The stress and pressure that brings has cost me many sleepless nights. It’s not a job where my brain turns off once I close my computer. I miss family weddings, summer weekends, and sometimes tucking my kids in to bed.
However…I. Love. This. Job. I feel as though I am 100% doing the right career for me. The comfort and confidence that that brings to my day-to-day is an incredible feeling. I don’t work, or go to work, because I have to. I go because I want to. Everyday. Everyday brings something new. New challenges and new rewards. Every couple and every event is different that my days are never the same. Below are a few of the top reasons I do this beautiful job!
I have a job where my clients hug me. A lot. I don’t know how many people get to go to work and get hugs. Of course there are tough conversations and difficult decisions to be made, but at the end of the day, there are hugs. We work on a number of private properties which allow us to get to know the families of our couples very well. We have to have conversations about logistics, about respecting their properties, and about how we can make their space shine and reflect their son or daughter on their wedding day. It’s amazing feeling to feel as though you have had an alli in the planning process. They know I am there to make magic for their kids and we get to bond over that!
With every wedding, and every weekend, comes a new collaborative team of vendors. I am here to tell you the Vancouver has some of the most dedicated, hardworking, passionate and creative professionals here to make MAGIC for you. They loose as much sleep as I do doing what they love. They wake up at 4am to pick out the best blooms, they work 20 hours shifts on ladders to hang your lighting, they haul ass for 12 hours to perfectly capture your day, and they come back at 2am to clean it all up. My job would not be at ALL possible without the support and guidance of these amazing humans.
The Diverse Couples
Of course, as cliché as it may sound, I couldn’t do this job with out our amazing, loving, diverse couples. Every single wedding that comes across our plate is different from the next. They use different keywords to describe the feeling they want from their wedding day. This allows my team and I to step outside of our “wedding boxes” each and every day as we stretch ourselves to create unique and personal events. Their trust in us drives us even harder to create magic for them.
My number one inspiration for doing this job, and doing it well, is to show my kids what happens when hard work pays off. I am lucky that I have easy-going, adaptable, enthusiastic kids. They can be bounced from family babysitter to family babysitter and are happy as can be - during wedding season, they are loved so hard by my husband and family and I know they are in amazing hands. My kids ask questions about my work. They get excited when I take them places I’ve worked (Science World, Convention Centre, Farms, Hotels, the list goes on…!) and I can tell they feel so proud. It blew their little minds that we were going to have a real-live unicorn at one of our weddings last year. They ask about weddings, are inquisitive about types of flowers and know not to touch anything when we have to visit decor warehouses on errand days. They are 100% my motivation for doing this job and I couldn’t be luckier to have them as my little support system.
Bonus - moments like the one below don't hurt either! Seeing my couples faces once al the hard work pays off is the most amazing feeling in the world ;) (Photo Shari+Mike)
There are few things I love more then a truly authentic back yard farm wedding. I have been so lucky to be included in a few family weddings on this property now! They always do an incredible job of welcoming their guests and focusing on just the right touches. There a ton of logistics to manage as we are literally in a cleared and cleaned potato barn. But, with good food and lots to drink, their guests always dance until after I am long gone!

When Charles contacted me in July asking for a wedding in August, I assumed he meant August 2017. But no! We had six weeks to find them a venue, florist, decor, organize food and beverage and everything! It was a quick plan but so fun to do! I explained that they would have to make decisions quickly for the process to move as it needed to.
We put together an amazing team of vendors to make it come to life! I was so happy that they trusted us to make this happen for them.
We are so incredibly lucky to work with some of Vancouver top floral designers. We wanted to take a moment to showcase some of their beautiful work that was created for our clients this past year.

Congratulations! You're Engaged!
Did you know that 40% of proposals and engagements happen between the end of November and the beginning of February?! We know it's true because we are busy meeting new couples and doing consultations for the upcoming year.
We wanted to do a quick little post to give our suggestions for the first five things you should do when you get engaged.
Take the time to pop a bottle of champagne, go for brunch with your girlfriends, and tell your families that amazing news. If you are wanting to get married in the upcoming year, the planning phase will quickly take over and it is so nice to sit back and enjoy just being engaged for a bit!
2) Hire a Planner
So we might be biased on this one...but if you are looking to have a wedding in the upcoming year you will technically be on a "quick" planning timeline in wedding world. Hiring a wedding planner will ensure you stay on track and are making the right decisions quickly. We have done full planning turn arounds in six weeks (or less!) so we know the drill! We will pair you with the perfect team for you and your budget. We will also make sure that everything is being done on time without becoming overwhelming.
3) Set your Budget
Chat with your families, look at your accounts and come up with a number that will suit everyone involved. This needs to be a number that you are completely comfortable with. It is important to do this first so that the planning process is totally guided and you won't end up doing a ton of wasted research on vendors or items you may not be able to afford. It also brings us to our next item...
4) Writing a Guest List
At this point, write a guest list as a guide. List A is people you absolutely can't get married without. List B is people you would absolutely love to have at your wedding if budget and venue size allow. Again, doing this before searching for venues is a smart idea because you then know what kind of venue you are going to spend your time researching. For example, don't go a visit a venue that holds 100 when you have 130 on your "must have there" list. Also, guest list is the biggest factor in your overall budget. You can anticipate that Food & Beverage are going to account for approximately 40% of you overall costs. Writing a guest list at this point will ensure you are spending the right amount of money in other areas and allow you to see what is a good price point for venue.
5) Book Your Venue
This is often the most overwhelming contract of the wedding planning because it dictates so many other factors in your planning. It give you a wedding date (yay!), a vibe or feel for your wedding (formal, quirky, comfortable etc), and give you a huge portion of your anticipated budget. This is the first contract to sign and it will feel so good to get it done! It also serves as a launching point for researching and booking all of your other vendors. There is no point in doing any other emails or inquires without a wedding date because everyone will tell you to come back when you've got a solid date.
I wanted to include a boring but practical item so I stuck it on as a bonus "to-do". Please go get your engagement ring insured! It's a simple addition onto your Homeowner/Rental insurance but will serve you well should anything happen to your new accessory!
A few weeks ago we were thrilled to host some of Vancouver's finest women for our annual Christmas Brunch! We extended the invitation to an intimate group of women who we look up to. They are business owners, bloggers, career women, moms and all around awesome.
We worked with a number of different vendors to create a warm and welcoming brunch to start their Christmas season off right! It was so nice to be be able to sit and chat!
After scrolling through the pictures please take a look through all of the amazing contributors!
